Doug Higgins is a native of Montana and has enjoyed and experienced the natural
beauty of the state. From his early childhood, his father taught him to fly fish and
in college he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in his hometown of Troy Montana and
later began to hike in the mountains of northwestern Montana and Idaho.
Mr. Higgins considers himself in some respects to be a naturalist and is a musician, composer and author. He is the founder of the Montana Brass record label and publishers. His music is intriguing and mystical, painting a portrait which 'Lively Times' says is a 'vast movie-magic panorama.' His new release, 'Montana Dreams,' produced on his own Montana Brass label, is a mindscape nature journey leading the listener from a stressful routine back to a simpler time. The album showcases his unique blend of smooth jazz and symphonic nuance. According to 'Lively Times' - "Montana Dreams is romantic and reflective, with lots of bluesy trumpet a la Mark Isham." Montana Dreams continues the development of the American tone poem characterized by its use of orchestra and jazz. Montana Dreams is fresh, imaginative and exceedingly personal, with the composer's profound appreciation of creation, matched with his artistry in performance. Streams of Yellowstone book is the precursor to his 'Streams of Yellowstone' CD. The book expresses his love of nature and is a written remembrance of Yellowstone's mystique. |
